FEU
Fundación Ecológica Universal (FEU) is a non-profit non-governmental organization, established in 1990.

We work to improve the environment and to achieve a more sustainable development, by using and distributing carefully analyzed information.

Information to share and cooperate. Information to increase awareness. Information to commit participation. Information to educate. Information for action.

We believe that clear and concise information will bring decision-makers, corporations and individuals to understand about the degradation of the environment and act to safeguard it.

Our Objectives

- To increase awareness, promoting sustainable development.
- To create and strengthen networks with civil society organizations, mass media, and other stakeholders.
- To develop policies and strategies.
- To strengthen the capacity of individuals to participate.

Areas of Action

- Policy development
- Information dissemination
- Education and training
- Youth

Policy development

At the national level, FEU cooperates with different offices of the National Government in central issues of environmental policy and of interest for civil society.

At the international level, FEU collaborates with several international organizations including the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Also, FEU acts as Latin America coordinator for the Project "Danish support to increase the participation of Southern NGOs in the Earth Summit Rio+10: Africa, Asia and Latin America".

Information dissemination

FEU considers the analysis and dissemination of concise information a key factor for the awareness of society: governments, the private sector, the educational institutions, the workers, the social organizations.

In this sense, we develop printed editions and electronic material on environmental matters. We also organize meetings all over Argentina to disseminate information generated at international summits. By request of international organizations, we coordinate conferences for non-governmental organizations in Latin America.

Education and training

Education has been one of the key focal areas of FEU for more than 10 years. We coordinate a range of activities for students ranging from primary school through the university level, in partnership with the public and private sectors, and with all social actors.

The Public Education Campaign of the Efficient Lighting Initiative (ELI) is an example of this continuous work, for which we develop training workshops for teachers countrywide, educational contests, information dissemination, and bulletins.

Youth

Young people play a vital role in caring for the environment. That is why FEU develops activities that encourage the participation of youth, creating opportunities for them to express their opinions, maintaining a permanent contact with students of all ages and managing a program of national and international volunteers.

In this framework, FEU began to work with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), coordinating the project GEO for the Youth. The results obtained were the publication, in 2000, of the GEO for the Youth for Latin America and the Caribbean, Open your eyes to the environment, and in 2002 of the GEO for the Youth Argentina, Sowing Future, the first environmental report in Argentina elaborated from a youth perspective.
